Public Information Officer Sgt. Charles Mulligan informed Historic City News local St. Johns County reporters that earlier today, deputies responded to the scene of a single vehicle collision — with a house.
According to Mulligan, when deputies arrived, they found a 2002 Toyota convertible imbedded into the corner of a house a 1301 Loch Tanna Loop.
The driver, 80 year-old Manuel Charco of Jacksonville, was transported to Baptist South Hospital with minor injuries.
The house sustained major damage to the corner and garage. When members of the St. Johns County Fire Rescue Special Hazards Team responded, they were able to stabilize the house.
Witnesses to the crash said the vehicle was driving through several yards just prior to the crash, and then drove straight into the house.
The driver was charged with careless driving for the traffic crash.
