Florida’s Department of Community Affairs told Historic City News local reporters today that by June 30, 2012, St. Johns County must include in their comprehensive plan required “land use compatibility” criteria for property around the Northeast Florida Regional Airport.
In Florida there are currently 129 “public use” airports, including the airport at St. Augustine, that are licensed for public use under the provisions of Section 333.30, Florida Statutes.
State Law requires the “Future Land Use Elements” of local comprehensive plans to include the criteria that a local government will use to achieve the compatibility of lands adjacent to public use airports.
Division of Community Planning representative Matthew Muller can provide additional information by telephone at 850-922-1789, or, by e-mail to Matthew.Muller@dca.state.fl.us
