With little fanfare, Historic City News local news desk learned that St. Augustine City Commissioners approved the extension of alcohol sales from 1:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m.
At the regular commission meeting Monday night, comments were made by hoteliers that noisy patrons at closing is the main problem with extended drinking hours.
City Attorney Ron Brown will review the City noise ordinance to ensure its effectiveness in controlling late night revelers.
Brown told Historic City News, “Extended hours are temporary, until July 12th”.
Similar extensions were recently approved by the City of St. Augustine Beach and St. Johns County.
