Community Lecture Series: Rosalinda Sanquiche

Flagler College announced to the St. Augustine local news desk that their spring Community Lecture Series, titled “Analyze This: Literary and Film Interpretation,” continues Tuesday, March 16th with Rosalinda Sanquiche.

Sanquiche will present “Sex, Seeding and Sustainability in The Year of the Flood”.

Along with writing on environmental topics for various outlets, she has taught environmental policy and team-taught field classes combining ecology and policy in Florida and Belize.

Sanquiche graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Troy University with degrees in history, political science and Spanish. After receiving awards from the National Science Foundation and the National Hispanic Foundation, she graduated with a master’s degree in environmental and rescue policy as George Washington Fellow from George Washington University where she worked for the American Wind Energy Association.

She joined Ethical Markets Media from the North Florida Land Trust in St. Augustine where she focused on protecting environmentally significant places in Northeast Florida.

She continues as a speaker on environmental issues and works with Ethical Markets Media to promote socially and environmentally responsible behavior from an economic perspective.

The spring 2010 Community Lecture Series features speakers with different perspectives and interpretations of literature and films. The final speaker for the spring series will be:

April 20 – Dr. Douglas McFarland, Director of General Education and professor of liberal arts studies, will present “Wes Anderson’s ‘Rushmore’ and the Comedy of Buster Keaton.”

Tickets are $5 per person for a single lecture, or $15 for the series. Lectures begin at 10 a.m., in the Flagler Room, 74 King Street. Reservations are suggested, but not required. The lecture will last approximately one hour and will be followed by a coffee and pastry reception.
