This afternoon, Historic City News reporters learned that the body of a man, whose name is not being released until his family can be notified, was discovered behind a gas station in the 2600 block of SR-207.
St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office homicide investigators are calling the death suspicious and handling the location where the body was found as a crime scene.
The victim is believed to be a transient.
E-911 operators dispatched emergency medical personnel to the scene, however, first responders determined that the subject was already dead and could not be revived.
Sheriff’s public information officer, Sergeant Charles E. Mulligan, told Historic City News that the victim suffered trauma to his body that would not be consistent with a self-inflicted injury.
The body has been released to the 7th District Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
