Additional charges have been reported to Historic City News today that have been filed against a 51 year-old South Carolina man who was already in custody in the St. Johns County Detention Facility in lieu of bonds totaling $7,000,000.
Raymond Anthony Delgado who resides in Bluffton, South Carolina, was arrested on September 3rd on a warrant charging seven counts of sexual battery of a child that allegedly occurred in St. Johns County.
Delgado was taken into custody when he traveled to St. Johns County last month; thinking he was going to meet the juvenile victim. Instead, Sheriff’s detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit arrested Delgado upon his arrival at the predetermined location.
According to Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw, Delgado now faces seven additional counts of “criminal sexual conduct with a minor between the ages of 11-14” that are alleged to have occurred in South Carolina. The new, additional charges are each second degree felonies.
Detectives began the investigation in early August of this year when they learned of numerous incidents of sexual misconduct involving Delgado and the female victim — alleged to have occurred over a period of time beginning in 2007.
According to the report, Delgado befriended the female victim, then, over the course of several years, Delgado made contact with her and allegedly committed sexual acts on the child.
The United States Marshal Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrest of Delgado. With the combined efforts of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and the Bluffton Police Department, detectives in South Carolina were able to establish probable cause for the seven additional charges.
Delgado, who is a Chiropractic Physician in Bluffton, is said to have committed the sexual acts between June and August 2007 at his office; Carolina Chiropractic and Holistic Center. Delgado is currently being investigated by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation based on the charges.
