Local St. Augustine reporters at Historic City News have learned that sometime between Thursday, September 2nd around 5:00 p.m. and Monday, September 6th at 11:11 p.m., the residence located at 45 Palmetto Avenue was burglarized.
Police Officer Len Troscher investigated the delayed report from residents who told officers that they had been out-of-town. When they returned on Monday, they noticed that the back window to their home was broken.
Further inspection of the contents of the home determined that about $1,200 worth of jewelry was missing along with about $600 in cash.
The investigation revealed that the point of entry to residence was most likely the attic — and the point of exit was the window.
Community Affairs Officer Barbara Stevens of the St. Augustine Police Department reports that evidence was taken from the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
