Historic City News readers are invited to two special events as part of the January 19th St. Johns County Commission Meeting, according to an announcement received at the St. Johns County local news desk.
First, at 8:30 a.m. is an opening reception for Camera Choreography; the newest public art exhibition in the Administration Building, on display through April 9, 2010. In honor of the exhibit, an original dance by students from The Dance Company will be performed in the rotunda at 8:45 a.m. prior to the start of the County Commission Meeting. All are invited to attend.
Additionally, newly appointed Commissioner Ray A. Quinn will be ceremonially sworn in at the beginning of the January 19th County Commission meeting, which begins at 9:00 am. The Oath of Office will be given by the Honorable J. Michael Traynor, St. Johns County Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit. Governor Charlie Crist appointed Commissioner Quinn in December to serve as the District 3 representative in the absence of Commissioner Mark P. Miner, who deployed in early January with the Florida National Guard in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The County Administration Building is located at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine, on the south side of the main County Complex. The building is open to the public weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
