Although Sergent Chuck Mulligan told Historic City News local reporters that he did not suspect the two were connected, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious death of a black man found in an abandoned vehicle early this morning.
A deputy working in the South West Quadrant of St. Johns County located what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle on St. Ambrose Church Road and began to conduct a check of the vehicle.
Upon clearing the vehicles interior, the body of a black male subject was located inside.
The scene was processed by the SJC Crime Scene Unit and the investigation turned over to the Robbery-Homicide Unit.
The subject’s identity and the cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner. A determination regarding the classification of this case is pending the Medical Examiner’s findings.
