The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office informed local Historic City News crime reporters that a 22-year old St. Johns County man was arrested on aggravated battery charges following a drive-by shooting early last evening.
The suspect, identified as Jermone Demarcus Williams, 22, 501 N. Orange St., was arrested shortly before 10:30 p.m. and was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.
The investigation began shortly before 7:00 p.m. when deputies responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 100 block of Webb St.
The 27-year old male victim stated that the suspect, who is known to him, approached in a vehicle while he was walking northbound on Webb St.
The victim observed the suspect point a handgun at him and he began to run. The victim heard about six shots as he ran away and felt something strike his right arm. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the forearm and was transported to Flagler Hospital where he was treated and released. The motive is believed to be an on-going dispute between the suspect and victim.
The suspect fled the area in the vehicle and he was later arrested at his attorney’s office.
Robbery-Homicide detectives are continuing the investigation.
