At tonight’s meeting, Historic City News has learned that the organization will be meeting their newly elected officers and discussing upcoming projects for the year commencing with assisting in the “Turtle Town USA Cleanup Project” for St. Augustine beaches on April 24th.
Officers of the newly formed St. Johns Young Democrats chapter are from left: Max Haas, vice president; Rebecca Johnston, president; David Halstead, state committeeman; and Clay Seckinger, treasurer.
Meetings are held every month, on the second Monday, at the Village Inn located at 900 N. Ponce De Leon Boulevard in St. Augustine.
This Club is in the process of becoming a county charter of Florida Young Democrats under the national organization, Young Democrats of America; to be known as “St Johns County Young Democrats of America”.
The mission of the Young Democrats organization is to be a strong and positive representation of the Democratic National Party and to uphold the Democratic platform in the face of conservative criticism, to be a positive influence in our community through service, to teach young people, our future voters, that it is OK to be a free thinker as well as to provide a casual, friendly, and safe atmosphere for liberal thinkers to come together.

Young Democrats is for anyone between the ages of 18 and 39, however high school students are welcome to attend the meetings and get involved.
