At about 4:40 p.m. this afternoon, Historic City News was notified by Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Leeper, that troopers were on the scene of an overturned vehicle traveling southbound on I-95 south of World Golf Village.
The single-car crash occurred at mile-marker 321 just before 4:30 p.m. today and involved a Ford Explorer operated by a 74 year-old male driver.
“For some unknown reason, he drifted off the roadway onto the shoulder,” Leeper told Historic City News. “He lost control and overturned.”
The driver was wearing a seat belt, according to the accident report; unfortunately, he died at the scene.
The driver’s family is being notified by homicide investigators before his name will be released.
