Traffic Homicide Investigator, Deputy J.D. McGinnis, reported to Historic City News that he is continuing to investigate a fatal “hit and run” crash on CR-214 between I-95 and CR-13A near Molasses Junction this afternoon.
Shortly before 4:00 p.m., investigators were called to the scene of a middle-aged white man found on the side of the roadway.
Evidence at the scene suggests the victim was riding his bicycle westbound when he was sideswiped by a westbound vehicle.
The vehicle was possibly a Nissan X-tara SUV or Frontier Pickup. According to a witness, the suspect vehicle could be an older model dark blue Ford Ranger pickup truck with a white male driver in his 20’s.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and the identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of family. CR-214 has been reopened following the preliminary Traffic Homicide Investigation.
