St. Johns County Energy Efficiency Coordinator Lowry Shuler reported to Historic City News that commercial contractors and homeowners will have the opportunity to participate in a free energy efficiency workshop this evening to learn how to save money by building more efficiently.
The workshops are held every Thursday from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the wind mitigation building at the Agriculture Center, located at 3111 Agricultural Center Drive in St. Augustine.
– September 15th – Innovative and Sustainable Landscape Design Strategies: Learn about alternative landscaping practices that can be retrofitted to urban and suburban environments to integrate sustainability into already existing communities.
– September 22nd – Renewable Energy: the St. Johns County Review and Permitting Process: Take an inside peak into the County’s development review and permitting process for renewable energy projects.
– September 29th – Energy Efficient Window Treatments: Learn how proper window treatments can reduce the heat transmitted through a window by up to 74% at a significantly lower cost than replacement.
The free Energy Efficiency Education Series is part of a grant from the Florida Energy and Climate Commission. St. Johns County is one of only 15 municipalities in Florida that was awarded this competitive grant. Funding is provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 through the Department of Energy.
