May 6th is recognized by Historic City News as “No Diet Day” — a day dedicated to raising awareness of how “un-healthy dieting” can be harmful.
Proclaimed in 1992 by Mary Evans Young, “No Diet Day” has been promoting “healthy eating” rather than “un-healthy dieting”.
Organizers say it is important to respect and accept different body types, and to be leery of body-type perceptions portrayed in the media.
It is the aim of “No Diet Day” to help teach people to have a healthy relationship with food and to ditch restrictive diets and the harmful results they often have — such as anorexia.
So for our readers who want to celebrate “No Diet Day” Historic City News salutes you — and you can meet us for lunch at McDonald’s.
