Sheriff David B Shoar reported to Historic City News today that deputies, acting on a tip, located and identified a 31 year-old St Johns County fugitive who is wanted for multiple felony charges as well as an outstanding warrant alleging aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
Marcus Kentell Bryant, whose last known address is 957 W 9th Street, is described as a black male, 5’11”, 162 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. This afternoon, he was dressed in all black and was carrying a black bag.
When Bryant spotted deputies, he carjacked a nearby vehicle along with its two occupants, then fled the scene. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, however, Bryant reportedly drew a gun and ordered the driver to flee. The vehicle was pursued into the Whispering Pines apartment complex at SR-207 and SR-312.
Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw told Historic City News that Bryant jumped out of the vehicle and fled, on foot, across the complex then into the woods. Deputies searched the area by ground and air, along with a K-9 Unit; however, the suspect could not be located.
“Do not attempt to approach or detain this man — if you see him or know his whereabouts, call 9-1-1 and allow law enforcement officers to investigate,” Kelshaw told reporters. “Bryant is wanted on felony charges with bonds totaling $155,000 and should be considered armed and dangerous.”
