High-speed traffic fatality early this morning

Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Lt Bill Leeper reported to Historic City News that a man driving more than 100 miles per hour on SR-206 in southeast St Johns County was killed early this morning when he lost control of his car.

According to the report, 54 year-old John R. Wicker, who lived at 8 Dawson Drive in Palm Coast, was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the single-car collision, which occurred just after midnight this morning.

Wicker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic homicide investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol have not yet determined if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
