Historic Weapons Week through January 1

Posted on 12/28/201112/29/2011 By Historic City News

US Park Ranger Jeffrey Edel, Supervisor of Historic Weapons at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, reported to Historic City News that the week between Christmas and New Years’ Day has historically been the busiest of the year with attendance usually between 4000 and 6000 per day.

With this unique opportunity to reach and teach the public, the National Park Service has traditionally presented Historic Weapons Demonstrations every day during this time.

“During the holidays, we encourage all our volunteers to come and assist us with musket and cannon demonstrations,” Edel said. “Let’s bring in the New Year in black powder style.”
