Local government reporters received an e-mail from Kim J. Kendall yesterday, announcing to Historic City News readers that she has officially made her bid for a seat in the Florida House of Representatives.
Kendall, who lives on Eagle Point Drive in northwest St. Johns County, has been active in the community over the past ten years while working as an Air Traffic Controller.
Reapportionment between now and the November 2012 elections may change the district in which Kendall resides, however, she has filed to run in her current home District 19. In June of next year, that may change — according to Kendall, “I will run in whichever district I reside at that time; whether it is the 19th or 20th district”.
When asked why she is running, Kendall responded; “I am running because I want a better future for my children and your children. For over ten years I have been working to see that the education of Florida’s children was full and complete.”
Although the election is over a year away, Kendall has already received the nod from community leaders, including Florida Family Policy Council President John Stemberger; who wrote, “Kim Kendall is exactly what Florida needs – an active citizen, a responsible parent, and a clear thinking professional with real world experience. She has served her community for years and we are now asking her to serve the state. I give her my unqualified endorsement.”
“I am serious about doing the work needed, at the state level, to right-size government and remove the barriers to job creation in able to get our neighbors back to work,” Kendall told Historic City News. “As a former Air Traffic Controller, to me, only a 100% success rate is acceptable –- that is the same work ethic I will take to Tallahassee.”
Kendall has already assembled a campaign team of over 30 members; she has appointed Beth Ann Love as her campaign Treasurer, and, announced that Randy Covington will serve as Campaign Manager.
Kendall can be contacted through her campaign website www.elect-kim.com.
