Dear Editor,
Noche de Gala Ball, an event sponsored by the Heritage Tourism Department of St. Augustine, is being catered by a company in another city because “somebody” decided to help out a “FRIEND”.
St. Augustine has more than its share of restaurants and caterers that produce some of the best food in the South.
With the economic frustrations, and with so many of our city residents suffering great financial distress, I cannot believe they couldn’t find anyone here to cater.
It is the celebration of the birth of our city’s founder.
I think the residents of St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach should have had the right to be the provider for this event and showcase ST. AUGUSTINE businesses.
I think this is a bad example of the leadership in our city.
Who exactly gets to make these decisions anyway?
A concerned citizen,
Walter Smith
St. Augustine
