Lifeguard orientation and tryouts for 2012 season

Marine Rescue Lieutenant Jeremy Robshaw invites applicants interested in seasonal employment as a St Johns County lifeguard to contact his office at (904) 209-0366 and to attend a required orientation and tryout during the coming weeks.

Orientation meetings will be held at the Marine Rescue Division Office located at 366 A1A Beach Boulevard in St Augustine and will give applicants the information they need to understand the requirements of the season job.

Tryouts will follow in January and February of 2012.

Both orientation and a competitive tryout are mandatory parts of the audition and selection process, Robshaw explained to Historic City News reporters.

Orientation dates and times are:

• January 9, 2012 at 10am

• January 13, 2012 at 7pm

Live tryouts are held at the pool of the Solomon Calhoun Community Center located at 1300 Duval Street in St Augustine.

Lifeguard candidates may audition on any one of the following dates:

• January 23, 2012 at 10am

• January 30, 2012 at 10am

• February 6, 2012 at 10am
