Manhunt under way for gun-carrying delivery robbers
Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Robbery-Homicide Unit are continuing to investigate a series of armed robberies to food delivery or taxi drivers that have occurred over the past year in the West Augustine area.
The most recent robberies occurred last month and have increased in severity as the suspects began brandishing firearms.
Many of the robberies occurred in the area of King Street Extension and several suspects have been identified as Persons of Interest.
One of the suspects, identified as Brandon Cheques Rich, 15, 1170 King St. Ext., was recently arrested and charged with one of the armed robberies. He was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice and is in custody.
The criminal activity of these young suspects has adversely impacted the local community as some of the businesses have temporarily suspended deliveries to the West Augustine area.
As a result of this investigation, three firearms have been seized from two homes along with packaged narcotics for sale from another residence.
In addition, Cameron Eugene Glass, 18, 200 S. Woodlawn St., was charged with possession of a firearm and a 13-year old male juvenile was arrested on two counts each of burglary and grand theft.
In the past several days two additional Taxi Cab Robberies have also been committed.
In an effort to end this dangerous criminal activity, detectives are encouraging the community to come forward with any information that will assist the investigation as well as positively identify potential suspects.
Anyone with any information can call Detective Brad Bichler at (904) 810-6645 or by email at crimetips@sjso.org. You can also remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling Crime Stoppers of N.E. Florida at 1-(888) 277-TIPS (8477).
