St. Augustine and St. Johns County Congressman John L. Mica told Historic City News today that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the Sunshine Bus Company a $527,780 grant to assist in the purchase of new transit service vehicles.
“The Sunshine Bus Company and the St. Johns Council on Aging not only provide the community a great service, but also gained the recognition and confidence of Federal, State and local agencies for the cost-effective way it provides transportation for our veterans and elderly,” said Congressman Mica.
“The timing couldn’t be better,” said Cathy Brown, Executive Director of the St. Johns Council on Aging. “We are doing everything possible to expand services and increase operation hours in the County and this grant will support these efforts.”
