Traffic Homicide Investigators with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Section are investigating a crash that led to an early morning traffic fatality that occurred around 1:00 a.m., this morning.
The crash occurred on CR-214 after the motorcycle driven by a 45 year-old St. Johns County man, drove westbound through the intersection of CR-13 South.
The motorcycle came to rest in a small wooded area separating the roadway from the St. Johns River.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the rider dead at the scene.
The rider was wearing a helmet; and, although the crash is still under investigation, heavy fog in the area may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The name of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification of his family.
