Historic City News was on hand for the First Annual Palm Coast Half Marathon and 5K race last weekend — despite freezing temperatures, walkers and runners of all ages reported a good time.
The races were professionally organized and managed; including computerized registration and timekeeping for each participant.
The scenic route was a grand topic of conversation from all the runners; whether first-time walkers or skilled athletes.
The post-race party, held at the marina pavilion, featured live music performed by local band “Blue Agave”.
“Most runners were very happy to have a local race,” Palm Coast City Manager Jim Landon told Historic City News. “They loved the location, too.”
The total number of racers was just shy of 400.
Landon said, “This was a great first-year event and we are working on scheduling our 2012 race.”
