Book Sale
Saturday, October 1 @ 10 am – Everyone is invited to buy some great books for a great bargain! Remember that all proceeds, including membership fees, go to support the Friends’ mission of making our library an outstanding educational, cultural, civic and recreational center for the community.
Storytimes
Tuesday, October 4
Just For Babies @ 10:15 am – Just for Babies is for babies birth-15 months and their caregivers. This infant lapsit is designed for one-on-one interaction between caregiver and baby.
Family Storytime @ 11 am – Special Family Storytime: Teddy Bear Story Time- Children aged 16 months through 5 years and their families are invited to a bear-y special story time all about teddy bears! Everyone is encouraged to bring a teddy bear or other special stuffed friend with them to enjoy an extra fuzzy set of stories and songs.
After-School Crafts with Teens
Wednesday, October 5 @ 4-5 pm – All elementary-aged children, Kindergarten – 5th grade, are invited to make fun crafts with the teens of Nease High School’s Arts in Motion Club in our
library’s Small Conference Room! All materials are provided, no registration needed, and it’s FREE! NOTE: All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.
Teens Read with Kids
Saturday October 8 @ 10 am–12 pm – Drop into the children’s department to read to or be read to by a teen! The teens of Ponte Vedra High School’s Book Club would love to share a book with you! Children of all are welcome!
Family Storytime
Tuesday, October 11 @ 11 am – Family Storytime is aimed at children 16 months – 5 years and their families, though no child will be turned away! Families with a baby and older siblings are encouraged to come to Family Storytime.
Lego Club for Tweens
Wednesday, October 12 from 4-5 pm – For tweens in 4th-7th grade! Join our brand-new LEGO Club! Come out and bring your friends for an afternoon of fun building with Legos and hanging out at the library. No registration and it’s free! Thanks to our Friends of the Library for providing the Legos.
“Un-Scary” Halloween Party for Babies, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
Thursday, October 13 @ 10:15-11:15 am – Join us for games, crafts, prizes, a costume parade through the library, and so much more! Costumes are encouraged, but not required. The Halloween Parade will begin at 11 am. Bring your own camera to take pictures of your children at our “Pun-kin Pictures” station! Please call 904-827-6950 for more details. Teen Read Week Movie
Saturday, October 22 @ 2 pm – All youth ages 11–18 are invited to enjoy snacks with their friends while watching a PG-13 movie from a certain popular series on our large screen in celebration of Teen Read Week 2011! Book copies of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series will be raffled as prizes thanks to
the Friends of Library. Catch up on Edward, Bella, and Jacob before “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part I” hits the theatres in November!
Teen Gaming Night
Monday, October 24 from 5-7 pm – For middle and high school youth, ages 11-18! Relax and have fun with your friends at the library and play Nintendo Wii, two X-Box 360s, and Playstation 3 set up on three TVs and a big screen for simultaneous playing! We have many new games including Little Big Planet 2, Karaoke Revolution: Glee, Just Dance 2, Rock Band 3, James Bond 007, new Playstation 3 Move games, and more! Snacks will be served. Dr. Gerson Yessin Music Series
Tuesday, October 25 @ 6:30 pm – The celebrated and widely traveled Serafini Brillanti Trio will open the 2011-2012 Dr. Gerson Yessin Music Series. The group consists of Rhonda Nus Tinnin, soprano, Randy Tinnin, trumpet, and Erin Bennett, pianist. All are on the faculty of the University of North Florida. All concerts are free. Doors open at 6 pm.
