FLYP event: “Ice Cream Party”
Thursday, August 4 @ 2 pm – All children are invited to celebrate their summer of reading! Join us first inside in the FOL Community Room and then outside at the Bird Island Park gazebo behind the library for ice cream! Enjoy a stroll through Bird Island Park while having your ice cream. Publix of Jacksonville will be providing the ice cream, toppings, give-aways, and a visit from their mascot, Plato! A fun time for the whole family! This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
LEGO Club for Tweens
Wednesday, August 10 @ 4-5 pm – For tweens in grades 4-7. Join our brand-new LEGO Club at the Library! Come out and bring your friends for an afternoon of fun building with Legos and hanging out at the library. This Club will meet once a month through December, no registration and its free! Legos provided by the Friends of the Library.
Summer Crafts with Teens
Saturday, August 13 @ 2-3 pm – Children ages 6-11 are invited to join the Nease High School teens of the Arts in Motion Club to make a different craft each month during the summer! All materials are provided, no registration, and it’s FREE! Join us in the small conference room, across from the Children’s Department, and get crafty! Teen Gaming Night
Monday, August 22 @ 5-7 pm – For kids ages 11-18. Relax and have fun with your friends at the library and play our Nintendo Wii, two X-Box 360s, and Playstation 3 (with the new Move) set up on three TVs and a big screen for simultaneous playing! We have many new games including, Little Big Planet 2, Karaoke Revolution: Glee, Just Dance 2, Rock Band 3, James Bond 007, new Playstation 3 Move games, and more! Snacks will be served. Book Club
Tuesday, August 23 @ 3 pm – This month’s featured book is Unbroken: a World War II story of survival, resilience, and redemption by Laura Hillenbrand. Please join us for a lively discussion. New members are always welcome.
