Historic City News was told, “It is about We the People not about Democrats and Republicans”, according to the St Augustine Tea Party Group known as “The Town Crier Committee”.
According to Lance Thate, the Chairman of the Town Crier Committee, the group experiences the “love and the approval of the people” when it walks through the streets with their Gadsden flags flying.
“I can’t imagine that the GOP or the Dems would experience the same response. The people are awaking and they are looking to the Tea Party,” Thate said.
The Town Crier Committee has been making regular appearances in St Augustine offering visitors and townsfolk alike their greatest treasure; free copies of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
The Town Criers took to the streets yesterday to engage the public in the “Up Town Saturday Walk”.
On rare occasion, a person does refuse the Constitution.
One such occurrence, Thate recalls a man saying, “I don’t want it — I’m a Democrat.”
The Town Criers would like to remind the public that the Tea Party is made up of Democrats, Republicans and Independents.
“Of these, the Republicans are considered by many Tea Party members the most disappointing as they have and are failing to live up to their stated Constructional and fiscal values,” Thate said.
The focus for the Town Criers is the Failure of both parties at the Federal level and the exposure of tyranny displayed at recent Town Hall and County Commissioner meetings.
The Town Criers will next engage the public on First Friday Art Walk according to Thate.
