At about 8:15 a.m. this morning, sheriff’s spokesman, Sgt. C. E. Mulligan, reported to Historic City News that deputies were on the scene of a vehicular crash involving a passenger car and a school bus on SR-16 near Inman Road in St. Augustine.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded, according to an update received from Lt. Jeremy Robshaw. “No students were injured in the accident,” Robshaw told Historic City News.
Mulligan said, “A second bus transported the students to their original destinations.”
“Both the car and bus drivers were treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel then transported to Flagler Hospital in stable condition,” Robshaw reported.
The eastbound lanes of SR-16, east of Inman Road were closed causing traffic delays until troopers, deputies and Rescue personnel could safely clear the accident scene. Reportedly the congestion around the interchange cleared in about 20 minutes.
Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Leaper, public information officer for this area has been contacted for information regarding possible charges against the drivers; as the investigation is continuing.
