Cathy Brown reported to Historic City News that visiting Haitian artist Rara Kuyu would be in St. Augustine this weekend; displaying his work and helping to raise funds locally for the Council on Aging.
From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Genung’s Fish Camp, located at 291 Cubbedge Road in Crescent Beach, host Johnny Barnes will kick off the weekend-long art exhibit and fundraiser.
For a $10 per-person donation, Barnes says he will serve beer, wine and fresh local seafood appetizers, with the proceeds supporting the Council on Aging.
Kuyu, born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and currently residing in Miami, will donate 25% of all sales this weekend to the Council on Aging and an additional 25% to alleviate the suffering caused by last year’s devastating Haitian earthquake.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Kuyu and other local St. Augustine musicians.
The Kuyu art exhibit will be on display at Genung’s from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
