Tara Dodson, President of the local non-profit organization “Keepers of the Coast”, invites all Historic City News readers in St Augustine and St Johns County to participate in this year’s 6th Annual Sea Turtle Festival being held on Sunday, May 20.
The family-oriented festival will feature live music, conservation and wildlife education tables, arts and crafts vendors, a silent auction, food and beverages, and “Keeper’s Cove,” an interactive children’s program.
“The Annual Sea Turtle Festival is the best way to experience every aspect of a Keepers’ mission and will be a terrific, family-friendly, fun day,” Dodson told Historic City News. “One of the primary goals of the event is to educate youth on protecting their coastal environment, which is vital for the future health of all species.”
Join the organization and other local businesses as they work to preserve area beaches and endangered wildlife from noon to 5 p.m. in downtown St Augustine at the City of St Augustine Municipal Marina located at 111 Avenida Menendez.
Local performer Sam Pacetti is scheduled to entertain along with musical performances by other featured artists including Saltwater Cowgirls, Aslyn and the Naysayers, and Honeysweet.
Mojos Tacos will provide food vending and Sweetwater beer will be available for purchase.
“Keepers of the Coast” is a local non-profit organization focusing on wildlife education and conservation of sea turtles and other species that we share with our beach and ocean environment.
The organization’s operation is completely reliant upon volunteer support, collaborative sponsorship for all events, and monetary donations. To learn more visit keepersofthecoast.org.
Downtown public parking in metered spaces is free on Sunday for this event, although spaces are limited. Come early for a good parking spot, Dodson advised.
Event sponsors that have thus far committed to supporting the 2012 Sea Turtle Festival via monetary donations or in-kind services include: Sweetwater Brewing Company, Blue Sky Surf Shop, The Bailey Group, St Johns County, Eco Tours, Friends of the St. Augustine Amphitheater, Mulligan & Kauttu Attorneys at Law, and Mojos Tacos.
