Last night, Historic City News learned that officers were called to a residence on Regency Lane where witnesses reported that a woman was brutally beaten then forced into a blue vehicle that fled the scene.
Flagler County Public Information Officer Debra Johnson told reporters that deputies located and arrested the 32-year-old Jacksonville man they believe kidnapped and beat the victim who moved to Palm Coast to avoid further violence from her attacker.
After deputies at the scene of the attack radioed a description of the vehicle observed by witnesses in the neighborhood, other deputies spotted the vehicle operating recklessly while traveling northbound on US-1.
Inside the vehicle, deputies found the 51-ytear-old victim. She was bleeding heavily from facial injuries and officers reported that she was incoherent.
The arms of the driver, Cary Hudson Jr., were “covered in blood”. He was taken into custody while the victim was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler for emergency medical treatment.
During questioning at the hospital, the victim told deputies that she moved from Jacksonville to Palm Coast to get away from Hudson. He followed her to Palm Coast “to spend time with her”. He became abusive, once again, and last night, the victim stated that he pulled her from the Regency Lane home.
According to witness statements, Hudson “punched and stomped” the woman, slamming her head onto the vehicle and then forcing her inside. Once inside the vehicle, Hudson punched the victim again in the face while she was sitting in the passenger seat, the statements say.
Hudson was charged with kidnapping, domestic violence-aggravated battery, and driving with a suspended license.
He was being held in the Flagler County Inmate Facility today in lieu of $90,000 bond.
