Historic City News in St Augustine was informed that State Attorney R J Larizza has received a criminal mischief complaint alleging sixteen recent graffiti attacks against city owned dumpsters and private property that police say was committed by a 20-year-old Davis Shores resident.
According to Mark Samson, public information officer for the St Augustine Police Department, Alexander Gonzalez Ackermann, who lives on Arricola Avenue, spray-painted the word “mine” on more than a dozen pieces of public and private property on Anastasia Island near his home.
Police interviewed victims and witnesses according to an announcement received by Historic City News this morning. “Like with other graffiti cases, it was information obtained from our citizens that allowed us to follow-up and ultimately file these charges against Ackermann,” Samson told reporters.
Detectives spoke with Ackermann during the investigation and explained the accusations against him, police said. Samson told Historic City News that at one point, Ackermann told detectives he would consent to be interviewed; however, he has since declined.
“The members of the St Augustine Police Department enjoy a strong working relationship with our community,” said Chief of Police Loran Lueders. “We appreciate the cooperation received during this investigation.”
