Posted on 05/06/201205/07/2012 By Historic City News

Historic City News editor Michael Gold learned today from GOP State Committeewoman Becky Reichenberg, that Republican leader Edwin R DuPont has fallen very ill and he has been hospitalized in Gainesville at Shands Hospital.

Ed and his wife Monica, who live in Ponte Vedra Beach, have played a pivotal role in establishing and keeping the local Republican headquarters open in St Augustine.

According to a message from Reichenberg earlier today, 65 year-old DuPont is “in great fighting spirits” while he is being treated for acute Leukemia.

“Please pray for Ed, Monica and their family as they travel through this most difficult time,” Reichenberg wrote to members of the Republican Party of St John County and the Executive Committee.
