FHP investigating truck-vs-bicyclist crash

Historic City News has been notified that a man riding his bicycle along SR-A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach was struck and seriously injured in a crash that occurred earlier this morning.

According to preliminary reports, a silver extended-cab pickup truck hit a bicyclist at the intersection of SR-A1A at Dolphin Boulevard; causing traffic to be backed up as far as Butler Boulevard.

The victim, whose condition is not yet known, was stabilized by emergency personnel on the scene and transported by air ambulance to the trauma center at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.

The crash is being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol and a followup report should be available later today with the victim’s identity. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
