Traffic Homicide Investigators have informed local Historic City News reporters that a motorcyclist, first believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries in a vehicle-vs-motorcycle crash, is now known to be in stable condition at Orange Park Medical Center.
The motorcyclist, 53-year-old Timothy Enix, was stabilized at the scene and flown to the trauma center. His wife, 45-year-old Melinda Enix, was a passenger on his motorcycle. Her injuries were reported to be less serious; she was transported by St Johns County Fire-Rescue to Flagler Hospital.
The Enix’, and another motorcyclist, were traveling on CR-13 South this evening at around 5:30 p.m. Investigators say that when they reached Cracker Swamp Road, an unknown driver of a white passenger vehicle crashed into their bikes and fled the scene.
Sheriff’s spokesperson, Corporal Catherine Payne, said that deputies are searching for the passenger vehicle and need to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision or have knowledge of the whereabouts of the driver.
The driver of the second motorcycle was reportedly unharmed. The investigation is continuing.
