Saturday morning, St Augustine Police arrested a 39 year-old local man, who remains held without bond in the St Johns County Detention Facility; charged with capital sexual battery against a twelve-year-old girl and currently under investigation for additional crimes.
Detective Corporal Charles Simpson served a search warrant last week at the home of Robert Lee Skipper; where officers collected several items of evidence for forensic examination after the pre-teen stepdaughter of Skipper’s alleged girlfriend, and her 20-year-old sister, came forward with graphic details of sexual battery committed against them.
The victims allege that the crimes occurred over a period of six or seven months, while Skipper was dating their stepmother. Friday, the stepmother, whose name is being withheld, reported the crimes to local police — saying that the reason for the delay was that she had just learned about the frightening allegations.
According to the report, delivered to Historic City News by Public Information Officer Mark Samson, Skipper “threatened to kill the two victims if either of them told anyone what happened”.
During execution of the search warrant at 121 Woodcrest Road in St Augustine, several clothing items and bed sheets were seized and taken into evidence. After the investigation is complete, Skipper may face additional charges based on the 20 year-old victim’s accusations.
