Shortly before midnight this morning, 40-year-old Anastasia Mosquito Control District commissioner, Janice Marie Bequette, was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol and booked into the St Johns County Detention Facility; charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Bequette, who resides at 1013 Three Forks Court in St Augustine, has been Anastasia Mosquito Control District commissioner since January 2009. She served as chair of the Anastasia Mosquito Control District in 2009; and again this year.
She is again a candidate for Anastasia Mosquito Control District, Seat 3; and faces Edward Randy Covington in the November General Election.
Bond was set at $500.00 in the misdemeanor case against Bequette.
Under 316.193.1 F.S., a person is guilty of the offense of driving under the influence if the person is driving or in actual physical control of a vehicle within this state and the person is under the influence of alcoholic beverages, any chemical substance, or any controlled substance, when affected to the extent that the person’s normal faculties are impaired.
