St Johns County Fire Rescue spokesman Matthew Sara reported to Historic City News that at approximately 1:20 a.m. this morning, a suspected methamphetamine lab erupted into flames in the 1900 block of Powell Road in St Augustine.
The sole occupant was able to escape the trailer fire on her own. By the time help arrived, crews found the trailer to be fully involved with fire.
“Because of the possibility of the presence of dangerous chemicals associated with a clandestine meth lab, the Fire Rescue HAZMAT team responded as well,” Sara told Historic City News. “A survey of the damage, after the fire, revealed that there were no hazardous materials in the structure.”
The fire was deemed under control soon after crews began their attack on the blaze.
There was no damage to the adjacent homes.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported during this incident.
The trailer was a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by St Johns County Fire Rescue.
