Public Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw advised local Historic City News reporters that St Johns County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire early this morning in the 400 block of Watson Road in St Augustine.
First arriving units reported heavy fire coming from inside the structure.
One life was lost in the mobile home fire; the victim was discovered during the primary search of the residence at approximately 1:15 a.m.
Crews conducted an aggressive interior attack. Units responding to the fire were Engine 11, Squad 5, Engine 14, Ladder 6, Rescue 11, Tanker 4, Battalion 2 and Battalion 3.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and bring it under control in about 15-minutes.
Crews remained on scene for several hours to complete salvage and overhaul and assist the Fire Marshal with the investigation.
The cause of the fire as well as the fatality is currently under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, St Johns County Fire Rescue and the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
