Historic City News readers have grown accustomed to finding plenty of free parking downtown on Sunday including on-street metered spaces and city parking lots; encouraging some to walk around the city after church or to enjoy lunch at one of the many downtown restaurants.
Beginning this Sunday, April 15, parking fees at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument will be collected on Sunday.
The City of St Augustine enforces parking regulations throughout the city, including at the Castillo, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Only the Historic Downtown Parking Facility or private parking lots charged to park on Sunday before now.
Parking enforcement at the fort on Sundays will be managed by National Park Service personnel from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
On-street parking remains free on Sundays in metered spaces as well as in city-operated parking lots; except the parking garage at the Visitor Information Center.
