The American Jail Association notified Historic City News in St Augustine that St Johns County resident Becky Quintieri has completed the requirements to become one of 345 professionals who have achieved certification in jail management through the Jail Manager Certification Commission.
Certification in jail management is a demonstration of competency and professionalism in the field. The jail manager’s certification documents the mastery of a strong level of knowledge in the specialty and demonstrates continuing education.
“This is the first time someone with this agency has been certified in the management of an inmate facility,” said Flagler County Sheriff Donald W. Fleming, Quintieri’s employer. “I am very proud to have been able to give Director Quintieri the opportunity to pursue this professional award.”
To become a Certified Jail Manager, Quintieri completed an extensive background application that focused on her experience. She also underwent an intensive four-hour electronic examination.
The director joined the Flagler County Inmate Facility in 1993 after receiving a master’s degree in criminal justice. She became interim director in 2008. Quintieri was named director in January 2009.
