When the CVS Pharmacy, located at 57 Tuscan Way in St Augustine, was robbed Sunday afternoon, one observant Historic City News readers recognized the man who was shown on surveillance video and reported the information to St Johns County Sheriff’s detectives who are following the lead.
Law enforcement officers believe that the robber got into a waiting vehicle in the parking lot. The vehicle, observed in the surveillance footage, is a late model, dark colored, passenger car — however, no make or model has been identified at this time.
“It is possible that an accomplice was in the waiting vehicle,” according to a statement from Detective Brad Bichler.
According to the incident report, the man entered the pharmacy around 2:15 p.m., Sunday afternoon and handed the clerk a note demanding prescription narcotics.
The suspect was able to obtain numerous prescription drugs and fled the area without further incident, the report said.
The white male wearing light colored shorts, a red t-shirt, a ball cap, and black tennis shoes has not been arrested as of this morning and the investigation to confirm his identity and the identity of any accomplice is ongoing.
