St Augustine based soldiers deployed for a year

Public Affairs Specialist Blair Heusdens reported to Historic City News that approximately twenty-six St Augustine based soldiers are preparing to depart for a yearlong deployment overseas.

The men and women from the 2153rd Financial Management Detachment will leave from the Mark Lance Armory located at 190 San Marco Avenue on Sunday, June 3, following a brief ceremony in their honor at 3:00 p.m.

The detachment will first travel to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst for additional training before heading overseas.

The Florida National Guard soldiers attached to the 2153rd Financial Management Detachment will conduct finance operations for military forces in several overseas locations in support of Operation New Dawn.
