Posted on 02/08/201203/08/2012 By Historic City News

Dave Heimbold, chairman pro tempore of the Saint Augustine Tea Party, reported to Historic City News some recent activities where the members had an opportunity to participate with neighboring Tea Party organizations; united for a singular cause.

Last week, members from St Augustine, Molasses Junction and the Putnam County Tea Party visited with District Representative Patrick Kelly at Congressman John L Mica’s office in St Augustine, to raise awareness and express concerns regarding the National Defense Authorization Act.

The Town Crier Committee has two new Colonialists joining their ranks and participating in weekly downtown walks where booklet-sized copies of the United States Constitution are distributed, without charge, to hundreds of St Augustine visitors and residents.

According to Heimbold, at the Tea Party’s upcoming regular business meeting, being held on the evening of Tuesday the 14th at the Village Inn Restaurant on North Ponce de Leon Boulevard. A report will be given to update the members on the status of a dispute with two former members and what Heimbold says is the local group’s claim on about $6,200 he says was taken from the St Augustine Tea Party’s checking account.
