Businessman Travis Hutson who, with his wife Tanya, live in Elkton, announced to Historic City News this week that State Attorney R J Larizza and St Johns County Sheriff David Shoar have endorsed him in his candidacy for the newly-drawn House district that includes parts of St Johns, Flagler, and Volusia Counties.
Hutson currently works at the Hutson Companies, overseeing charitable foundations as well as property and agricultural management. He sits on the development committee of St Augustine Youth Services, and has been a member of the board of directors of EPIC Community Services in St Johns County.
“I am confident that Travis is the right choice to help represent our communities in Tallahassee,” said State Attorney Larizza. “Having worked with Travis, I quickly realized that his commitment to serving the people of Northeast Florida goes far beyond supporting our current elected officials and helping us fulfill our commitment to our constituents. I believe Travis can put his conservative ideals and experience to work and be a valuable asset to our communities as our next representative.”
“To take on the responsibility to represent and defend our citizens of Northeast Florida can be quite a challenge,” said Sheriff Shoar. “I believe that Travis is the right candidate to take on that challenge, and help bring conservative solutions and quality improvements to our communities. I will be happy to see Travis join us in our efforts to serve Northeast Florida and ensure our citizens receive the representation they need and deserve.”
As early as high school, Hutson was noticed for his exceptional character. He was one of the first to receive the “Character Counts” award from St Johns County during his senior year. The recognition is presented to individuals throughout the school district that represent the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
Hutson graduated Lafayette College in Pennsylvania in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and business.
In 2010, Hutson worked for Ambassador John Rood at Vestcor Companies and specialized in sales and acquisitions, as well as analyzing financial data for incoming and outgoing investments.
