Not including provisional ballots, Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes informed local Historic City News reporters that St Johns County voters cast 962 ballots in the first day of early voting in the Republican Presidential Preference Election.
Early voting tomorrow, Sunday January 22, is held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
After the resignation of Jacksonville Senator Tony Hill, thirteen St Johns County precincts did vote during the Florida Senate District 1 Special Election, on Sunday; however, Oakes said, tomorrow will be the first time there has been Sunday voting in a countywide election.
“It was a great day,” Oakes said. “I am happy voters are taking advantage of the opportunity to vote early.”

One question has been recurring — the ballot lists nine Republican Presidential candidates.
Some candidates have suspended their campaigns; however, none has officially withdrawn from the ballot in Florida. Votes for all nine candidates will be counted and certified to the State as required by law.
Early voting totals, by voting location, will be posted daily at www.votesjc.com after the sites close and balance.
