Un-buckled driver ejected and killed in car crash

Posted on 05/06/201205/07/2012 By Historic City News

St Johns County Sheriff’s Sergeant Charles E. Mulligan reported to Historic City News that a 21 year-old St Augustine woman was killed last night when she was partially ejected and pinned under her vehicle in a single-car crash on Green Acres Road.

The driver, Lauren Huff who worked at Taco Bell at SR-16 and I-95, lost control of her maroon-colored mid-sized passenger car and she was partially ejected from the passenger side. According to the crash report, Traffic Homicide Investigator Mac McGinnis observed that the car flipped onto its roof, landing on the driver.

Huff was not wearing a seatbelt, McGinnis wrote, and speed is likely a factor. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol contributed to the crash.

The rollover crash was reported to E-911 operators at 7:08 p.m. Saturday evening. Emergency paramedics with St Johns County Fire Rescue pronounced Huff dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing at this time.
