Beginner Genealogy Class: Session 2
Saturdays: June 1 @ 10:15am – 1:15pm
Jacksonville Genealogical Society, Inc. (JGS) is holding a four-session Beginner Genealogy Class, featuring research in the U.S., at the Bartram Trail Branch Library, 60 Davis Pond Blvd, Fruit Cove, FL 32259. The topic for Saturday, June 1:
Researching in a Straight Line—Backwards, Session 2. Organization; Church Records; and Vital Records
These free sessions are for the beginner researcher and the experienced researcher looking for a refresher course. International Affairs Discussion Group
Monday, June 3 @ 6:30pm
The International Affairs Discussion Group meets at 6:30pm to discuss international current events. The discussion is moderated by Joseph Warner, retired U.S. diplomat and adjunct professor of Geography and International Relations at Florida State College at Jacksonville. A reading list of suggested books and articles is available in time to prepare for the discussions. The topic this month is “U.S. and its Place in the Changing World.”

The group will crochet or knit blankets for cancer patients at area hospitals. All skill levels are welcome. Can’t come to any of the meetings? Pick up the crochet pattern at the Reference Desk in the library and crochet the blanket in your spare time. Drop off completed blankets and any yarn you’d like to donate during regular library hours.
Family Storytimes @ Bartram Trail
Family Storytime: Wednesdays @ 10:15am
Storytimes are every Wednesday June 5 – July 31st. This program is geared toward a wide range of ages including families with toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-aged children. Programs include music, stories, and classroom-type interaction and last approximately 30 minutes.
Teen Volunteer Orientation

Proceeds from the book sale support programs at the Bartram Trail Branch Library.

Teen Financial Literacy Workshop (Ages 15-20)

Are you starting your first job, graduating from high school, or heading off to college? Whatever the reason, every teen needs to learn how to manage money. The St. Johns River Chapter of Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the St. Johns County Public Library System are teaming up to offer this full day (10am to 3pm) workshop to teens age 15-20. Subjects covered will be budgeting, saving, personal investing, using credit wisely, avoiding identity theft and more. Class size is limited so call us at 827-6960 or stop by the desk to register. Bartram Trail’s FLYP Programs take place at 10am on Thursdays, June 20 through July 25. Each program will be held at the Family Activities Building (FAB) at Switzerland Community Church located at 2179 State Road 13. Children of all ages may attend; please be aware, however, that FLYP Programs are geared toward the school-age child. Strollers and street shoes will not be permitted in the building. 12pm – 1pm: iPad User Group: Smart phone and tablet users. Come to the fun discussion group to learn about tips, tricks, and awesome apps.
4:30pm – 5:30pm: Google Maps: Google Maps is much more than a tool to look up an address. Learn how to get turn-by-turn transportation directions, street view (great for armchair travel), how to create your own private maps, and how to access maps on your mobile device.
6:30pm – 7:30pm: Intro to Excel 2010: Whether you’re new to Excel or converting from an older version, this is the class to come to if you can’t find that button Microsoft hid this time.
