Letter: Best days for Chamber lay ahead
Kirk Wendland, President
St. Johns County Chamber
Dear Editor and Chamber members:
This letter is to inform you that I have provided the Board of Directors with my letter of resignation, effective December 31, 2013.
I want you to know how much I’ve enjoyed the last three years. It’s been an honor to be the President of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce. Even more, it has been a privilege to get to know you and call you friends.
Sometimes opportunity knocks, even when you may not have been expecting company. I have been given the opportunity to become the Director of Business Development for Stellar, a fully-integrated design-build, engineering, construction and mechanical services firm based in Jacksonville. It’s an opportunity that I am very excited about.
The good news is that Stellar is a long time member of the St. Johns County Chamber, so I’ll still be seeing you around. I’ll just be a member, instead of staff.
I believe in the mission of the Chamber and believe the organization is moving in a positive direction. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together during the past three years. And I am confident that the best days for the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce lay ahead.
In order to help with a smooth and orderly transition, I will continue in my capacity as President until the end of the year. This will also give me the chance to personally talk with each of you, which I look forward to.
Thank you for all you’ve done for the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce and for your personal friendships. As I leave to take on a new and exciting challenge, I will remember my time at the Chamber with much fondness.
My sincere thanks and best wishes to each of you.
